The question is how Smart Redact's cloud architecture sits with your data handling policy. For teams like a local authority processing FOI requests, a GP surgery handling patient records, or a law firm where client files carry confidentiality obligations, the answer to whether documents can be uploaded to third-party cloud infrastructure for processing is often a clear no. That is true regardless of Nitro's ISO 27001 and SOC 2 certifications. Certifications govern how data is handled after upload; they do not change the fact of the upload.

Manual and pattern-based redaction in Nitro PDF Standard is a reasonable option at its price point if AI detection is not required.
