## What is RedactProof?

RedactProof is a browser-based document redaction tool with automatic on-device PII detection. Detection and redaction run on-device by default - the file itself never leaves the user's device. Redaction is permanent pixel-burn (the underlying text is destroyed, not just covered), and every export can carry a tamper-evident verification certificate.

## Key Features

- **On-Device Processing**: Standard detection and all redaction happen in the browser using WebAssembly. The file never leaves the device. The optional Precision Engine (Pro) sends extracted document text - not the file - to a private inference endpoint for harder documents.
- **Automatic PII Detection**: a specialist named-entity recognition model runs on-device in your browser and identifies 60+ types of personally identifiable information (PII), including names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, IBANs, payment cards, health records and financial data.
- **Permanent Pixel-Burn Redaction**: Original text is destroyed at the pixel level, not hidden behind a black box that can be copied or removed.
- **OCR Text Restoration**: Redacted exports keep a searchable, selectable text layer for the content that was not redacted.
- **Image & Scan Redaction**: Redacts JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, HEIC and BMP files, not just PDFs.
- **Bulk Processing**: Redact multiple documents in a single batch (up to 20 per batch on Pro).
- **Legal Discovery Export**: Bates numbering plus a CSV redaction log for disclosure and litigation workflows.
- **Tamper-Evident Certificates**: Each export can include a verification certificate with Ed25519 digital signatures and SHA-256 hashes.
- **Offline Verification**: Recipients can verify document integrity by scanning a QR code - no account or network connection required.

On-device Standard Engine (AI detection, 60+ PII types), the optional Accelerator (up to 10x faster on supported hardware), OCR text restoration, professional exports, image/scan redaction (JPG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC and more). Unlimited documents.

## Privacy & Compliance

RedactProof is designed for GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA compliance. Because the file never leaves the device for standard detection and all redaction:

- No third-party data sharing
- Full user control over personal data

The optional Precision Engine (Pro/Team) sends extracted document text - never the file - to a private Cloudflare Workers AI endpoint, and is opt-in per document.

RedactProof (operated by Popsall Ltd) is Cyber Essentials certified (UK government-backed NCSC/IASME scheme, whole-organisation scope, certified July 2026, recertified annually) and registered with the ICO (registration ZC164232).
